I agreed w/ the Stolen Valor decision, too. I've got several veteran relatives, so of course the idea of someone posing as a war veteran really makes me angry. But (unless a person is using the uniform to order military personnel around) I agree that it shouldn't be a federal crime. It's a total overreach.
On the other hand, i can think of some creative punishments...dropping the liar off in front of a barracks or a VFW hall to explain what they've done, etc.


Exactly. There are lots of people already dedicating their time to publicly shaming people who do this that they generally pay in some way.
